I attended the meeting last night and remarked that I was partially color blind; in reviewing the Draft Zoning map, I would recommend it be tweaked in such a way that when you click on one of the proposed districts in the insert that it would highlight that district(s) on the PDF map
I think this is great! With both rentals and homes to purchase in short supply in NH, this could help greatly. It also gives people who own large homes a chance to reconfigure so that they can add an apartment, collect rent and stay in their home longer. And, younger people can better afford a home that also has rental possibilities (a two family allowed us to buy our first home). This could help to keep the economy in the Concord area more vibrant (young peple moving in). This is the most progressive stance on housing in the state and maybe even New England.
Dear Sirs
:I would like to suggest a way to strengthen the stated provision goal 4 “To prevent overcrowding of land, lessen congestion in street”.
For Residential Zones, consider increasing height restriction to 3.5 stories with the requirement that the 1st story be enclosed parking with the design requirement that the entry must be in keeping with the house and not simply a “garage door”.
The height change benefits would: Lessen the need for residents to park on the street. This should make driving and snow removal easier. Cars parked in their residences should be a savings to the “City” costs of traffic enforcement and snow removal.
I would have liked an “Executive Summary” of changes and a map that only highlights any properties that were re-characterized into a “different” zone. I feel it would be easier to follow the proposed changes by the Board to the public.
